LONDON, UK – July 9, 2007 – NDS, the leading provider of technology solutions for digital pay-TV, today announced that it has signed a contract with Inteleca, a triple-play operator in Siberia, Russia, to provide a VideoGuard Express system for the planned launch of Inteleca’s digital cable TV services in the region.

VideoGuard Express provides start-up digital pay TV operators such as Inteleca with a fully featured packaged solution that features proven NDS security, currently protecting content in more than 72 million set top boxes (STB) worldwide. The solution also includes powerful NDS MediaHighway middleware, now active in over 57.3 million STBs. With VideoGuard Express already deployed with clients such as Serbia Broadband, Lumiere TV in Cyprus and Smallworld Media in the UK, the addition of Inteleca further strengthens NDS’ track record amongst emergent digital TV broadcasters.

Inteleca currently offers analog cable TV, internet, and telephony services over a fibre optic network to residential and business communities in Barnaul, Altai, in Russia, and will enhance its offerings to include digital TV services. NDS will act as the prime technical integrator, providing conditional access, middleware, and a virtual-machine based Electronic Program Guide (EPG). Subsequent to the launch in Barnaul, Inteleca plans to develop and deploy services in over six other cities throughout Siberia.

As part of this expansion, Inteleca is also considering plans to offer IPTV services in the region. The head-end for the digital cable TV network will be located in Barnaul with Inteleca planning to create a regional network based on the system provided by NDS.

Commenting on the announcement, Jeremy Maddocks, NDS Business Development Director for Central and Eastern Europe, said, “We are very pleased to be working with Inteleca on their exciting plans for launching digital TV and IPTV services in Siberia. Although sparsely populated, Siberia covers an area about five times the size of the USA and we are proud to be part of the team that will open up this enormous market to new media services.”

J. Clifford Gauntlett, Chairman of Inteleca, remarked: “In establishing a world class triple play operator, with content and service levels on par with the leading international providers, we decided it was necessary to have a world class partner. NDS is a proven leader in the provision of technology that can secure and enable television content over a variety of networks and geographies to a large subscriber base.”

Konstantin Mirny, General Director, “OOO” Inteleca added: ”Barnaul is both a city of traditions and a city of the future. The deployment of the VideoGuard Express solution perfectly suits our needs for the set-up and launch of our services in Siberia. We see this as a long term relationship and we look forward to working with NDS to evolve our services to serve our customers well into the future.”
