BARCELONA, SPAIN – February 11, 2008 (Mobile
World Congress, NDS Booth AV100) – NDS,
the leading provider of technology solutions for digital pay-TV,
today announced the integration of NDS VideoGuard Mobile™ conditional
access (CA) technology with Expway’s FastESG™ Electronic
Service Guide (ESG). This solution will be demonstrated for
the first time at the Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, February
11-14, 2008.
The solution supports both the Open Security Framework and
the OMA BCAST Smart Card Profile, with additional profiles
on the roadmap. Based on the NDS Unified Headend™, which
manages rights and business offers across multiple platforms,
NDS VideoGuard Mobile enables mobile operators to launch mobile
TV services on current standards immediately, with the confidence
that they can migrate to additional standards economically
and smoothly when they are available. The solution provides
the necessary security for monetizing mobile TV content while
ensuring that users enjoy a personalized mobile TV experience.
“The integration of the NDS CA system with the Expway
ESG means that European operators need not be concerned about
launching with a specific profile. NDS’ ability to support
multiple standards concurrently means that our mutual customers
are able to migrate to a new standard seamlessly, with no service
disruption to customers, while maintaining key vendor relationships,” said
Nicolas Choquart, NDS Director of Mobile and New Business, EMEA.
“The end-to-end pre-integration of Expway Electronic Service
Guide with NDS conditional access will accelerate the deployment
of mobile TV and hence will promote the distribution of high-value
content over mobile TV networks. The joining of forces of two
such well established leaders in their respective fields will
help us lead the industry in terms of time-to-market on both
the operators’ and the manufacturers’ sides,” said
Nicolas Andrieu, Expway’s Sales Director.
