WASHINGTON, DC, USA (The Cable Show 2009 – ES-19) – March 31, 2009 – NDS, the leading provider of technology solutions for digital pay-TV, today announced that it has been chosen by Cox Communications, the multi-service broadband communications and entertainment company, to be the prime integrator for its upcoming tru2way™ platform, set to launch in Summer 2009.

With this agreement, NDS will be responsible for the management and implementation of the tru2way system that will be deployed by Cox. NDS will provide these services for the complete end-to-end solution, from the headend through to the set-top box (STB) components. NDS’ role will initially begin with the roll out of the tru2way STBs to Cox customers in July. NDS will also provide the tru2way user interface and interactive applications moving forward.

“NDS did a tremendous job on our new interactive program guide. The quality of their work and the consistent timeliness of their deliverables enable us to entrust NDS with the deployment of our entire tru2way platform,” said James Kelso, Vice President of Video Engineering for Cox Communications. “The knowledge and experience NDS has demonstrated give us great confidence for the rollout of new services which we’re planning this summer.”

Cox and NDS recently announced their development of a tru2way compliant user interface (UI) that encompasses a variety of interactive options for the consumer. The Electronic Program Guide (EPG) and interactive applications suite, implemented by NDS, are integrated into Cox’s centralized, user-friendly UI along with Video On Demand (VOD) and a digital video recorder (DVR).

“The work Cox and NDS have completed together over the past year, and the plans to continue to do so in the future, truly exemplify the progressive nature of each company,” said Steve Tranter, Vice President of Broadband and Interactive for NDS. “NDS brings the knowledge and experience of integrating and implementing tru2way systems which fits perfectly with the innovation, content and design leadership from Cox.”

Cox plans to ship its tru2way STBs this summer.

NDS will be showcasing its leadership in EPG and UI development at NCTA Cable Show 2009 in Washington D.C. from April 1-3. Please visit them at the NDS meeting room ES-19 or at the CableNET stand. For customer appointments, please contact Katy Flores at kflores@nds.com.
