Managing Devices and Domains

Domain management enables TV operators to package and manage their services flexibly and optimally, as well as administer system-wide procedures, such as service and device counting policies. It simplifies the use of multiple devices by subscribers while maintaining prevailing content distribution agreements.

A domain includes all of the devices belonging to a single user or household. Each device is assigned a device ID and a device type. The IDs are administered by the VideoGuard Connect™ server and are unique across multiple device types.

VideoGuard Connect supports both “permanent” and “guest” domain membership. In permanent mode, membership is automatically renewed until the user closes the account or cancels a specific device. Guest mode, which automatically expires after a given period of time, is mainly used for accessing the service from public computers
